Analyzing Second Order Dependencies in i
نویسندگان
چکیده
Dependencies among intentional actors is a fundamental feature of i* Modelling. By depending on others, an actor can achieve much beyond what it can by itself. At the same time, the dependent actor becomes vulnerable to the failings of dependees. However, even when dependees are fully fulfilling expectations, over time, depending on other actors can result in structures that are hard to change. By analyzing second-order dependencies, i.e., dependencies among (first-order) dependencies, we determine the extent to which a dependency is depended on by other dependencies. The more a dependency is depended on by other dependencies, the more likely it is to become a barrier to change. Our approach is a model-based formulation of the concept of rigidity in the study of dynamic capabilities in strategic management. The i* models are used to analyze resistance to change in socio technical structures.

Measuring the Dependency of the Banks’ Assets and Liabilities in Iran
Analyzing the correlation between banks’ assets and liabilities after the financial crisis has been focused by many countries. As the banks in Iran have proved to be the biggest financer required for the production sector, investigating the asset and liability portfolio and their correlation appears to be very important. In this paper, there has been an attempt to patronize the Iranian banking ...
متن کاملA Model for Analyzing Dependencies Between Two ICA Features in Natural Images
In this paper we examine how the activation of one independent component analysis (ICA) feature changes first and second order statistics of other independent components in image patches. Essential for observing these dependencies is normalizing patch statistics, and selecting patches according to activation. We then estimate a model predicting the conditional statistics of a component using th...
متن کاملUncovering deterministic causal structures: a Boolean approach
While standard procedures of causal reasoning as procedures analyzing causal Bayesian networks are custom-built for (non-deterministic) probabilistic structures, this paper introduces a Boolean procedure that uncovers deterministic causal structures. Contrary to existing Boolean methodologies, the procedure advanced here successfully analyzes structures of arbitrary complexity. It roughly invol...
متن کاملApplication of Combustion Hot Spot Analysis to Process Furnace with Arbor Coils
Hot spots are among the most serious operational issues in furnaces as they may result in the destruction of tubes. Hence, it is essential to locate such hot spots precisely on the tube surfaces inside the industrial furnaces in order to secure a safe design and operation. In the current study, we have extended the model proposed by Talmor in order to precisely locate the combustion hot spots o...
